SHORT BIO:
A former teacher and current pilot, Irene Baron also worked with the Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA), Supreme Command Headquarters, Research & Development Center in Thailand four years on Top Secret work while employed by Battelle Memorial Institute as an Information Specialist in Geology & Hydrology, and as an Aerial Photographer.
In that capacity, she directed aerial photography from Air America/CIA Sikorski Helio-19 helicopters and two-winged aerial imaging aircraft. Irene authored the geology and hydrology sections of the now unclassified Mekong River Project book. She also authored the Operational Procedures Manual, Laboratory Material Division (all levels) for that ARPA facility.
Irene used the knowledge gained and experiences with the military, government, Battelle Memorial Institute, and as a veteran high school science teacher to create the geopolitical and psychological Mindreacher thriller series.
LONG BIO:
Irene Baron began her writing career as an Information Specialist with Battelle Memorial Institute under contract to the Office of the Secretary of Defence, Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA), Supreme Command Center-Thailand. With ARPA she authored the Geology and Hydrology sections of the now unclassified Mekong River Project book.
Under the World Engineers Joint Council in London, UK, for her work with ARPA, she studied Coordinate Indexing, Procedural Steps, Information Systems, Syntactical Problems, Information Retrieval, Thesauri Construction, Relationships of Knowledge, Information Data, etc.
She successfully completed National Science Foundation fellowships at Texas A&M University, Portland State University and the University of Missouri/Columbia graduate schools where her emphasis was on Geology, Minerals, Vulcanology, Oceanography and Meteorology. Her degrees include Hiram College, BA and Ohio University, MA. A public speaker who helped train Dale Carnegie speakers, Irene has presented workshops for the Science Education Council of Ohio, Ohio Earth Science Teachers, Association, state and regional science organizations.
As a science and forensics educator over 40-years, Irene taught Chemistry, Earth Science, Physical Science and Forensics. She was the Administrator/Instructor of International Marine & Insular Biology taught at the Forfar Research Station in the Bahamas for SE Ohio high schools.
As editor of the "East-Central Section of the National Association of Geology Teachers," Newsletter, she authored numerous education articles and classroom experiments. Her education certification has included Assistant Superintendent, High School Principal, Middle School Principal and Teacher for all sciences in Ohio grades 7-12. She also instructs Classical Drawing for the Zanesville Museum of Art.
Irene has been avid in volunteering over 14-years for the American Red Cross as Director of Water Safety, instructor for Water Safety and all levels of swim classes including Handicapped Swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. She volunteered with the local and National Ski Patrol 4-5 years. She has been awarded numerous commendations.
Having lived in SE Asia 4+ years and Germany 2+ years, she currently resides in Ohio with her daughter.
